Metal spaces are inserted into the rooms of a historic building with a colonial flavour thereby enhancing the spirit of contamination between different eras and cultures. The pre-existing part is painted white and decorated with plaster casts that alternate classic Vietnamese motifs with evocative reinterpretations. Within the metal structures, load-bearing bookcases and functional furnishings have been created to support the collections on sale and the new floor is made of concrete and resin. Outside the store, the old parquet has been left to indicate the separate but communicating areas.
